Refurbished iPhone 6, 6S, and 6S Plus Comparison Guide - WeSellTek

In this comparison guide we will take a look into the iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, and iPhone 6S Plus, to identify the similarities and differences between the different models.

When was the iPhone 6 released?

The iPhone 6 was released over 7 years ago back in September 2014 with Tim Cook stating this phone as having the “biggest advancements in iPhone history”

When were the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus released?

September 2015 was great month for Apple as many new devices where released, including a 12-inch MacBook, 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6s Plus.

What is the difference between an iPhone 6 and an iPhone 6s/6s Plus?

The main difference between an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S is an improved and faster processor on the iPhone 6S. The later model also has a higher RAM and a stronger aluminium case to help prevent any unnecessary bending. There are also a few more differences which make the iPhone 6S stand out from its predecessor, such as a much better camera, the ability to take live photos and the brilliant Apple 3D Touch function which perceives the amount of force a user puts on the touch screen to activate different features.

In relation to the iPhone 6S Plus, the main difference with this model is the size. This handset has a 5.5-inch screen compared to the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S which uses a 4.7-inch screen.

What is a refurbished iPhone 6?

A refurbished iPhone is a used handset that has been tested, repaired, cleaned, and polished and brought back to life with all functions fully functioning. Each iPhone 6 we receive will initially be checked over for any cosmetic damage, fully tested including a battery drain test, and all issues highlighted will be reported and then repaired by our experienced technician. After this process, the refurbished iPhone 6 will then be fully tested again to ensure all issues have been resolved and the handset is fully functioning and operating as It should. Only once a device has successfully completed this process will it then be listed for sale and a 12-month warranty offered with it which covers any manufacture defects.

This process is the same for all handsets we sell here at WeSellTek which includes the refurbished iPhone 6S and refurbished iPhone 6S Plus.

Is it worth buying a refurbished iPhone 6 or a refurbished iPhone 6S?

If you are looking for a cheap handset with all the basic features then an iPhone 6 or 6S would be the perfect model to look for. Currently (March 2022), Apple are still providing IOS updates for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, which means you can continue to download and use all your favourite apps, whereas the iPhone 6 is unable to be updated to the latest IOS. This does not mean the phone is redundant, it will still allow calls and messages to be made, and also allow a majority of apps to be downloaded.

Buying a refurbished iPhone is a great choice as not only is it cost effective, but it also helps the environment and saves used devices from going into landfill. The only difference between a brand-new mobile phone and a refurbished iPhone 6 or 6S is down to the cosmetic condition only. This means, if you normally keep your handset in a case, you might not even notice any blemishes on the device! Our 12-month warranty also provides that extra bit of comfort too!

Refurbished iPhone 6 price vs refurbished iPhone 6s price

You can expect to see prices for the iPhone 6 to be much cheaper than the iPhone 6S, this is primarily down the model being released a year earlier, and also that Apple do not now provide IOS updates.

Prices for either models will also depend on the cosmetic condition, and memory capacity, with the more memory and better condition priced higher than a low condition and minimum memory.

At WeSelltek our current price (March 2022) for an iPhone 6 refurbished, excellent condition, 16GB handset is £60, whereas an iPhone 6S refurbished to the same spec is priced at £70, and iPhone 6S Plus refurbished handset of Excellent condition, 16GB is currently £120.

A higher memory of 64GB and cosmetic condition of pristine condition is priced at £80, £100 and £150 for a refurbished iPhone 6, 6S, and 6S Plus respectively.

Whereas a refurbished iPhone 6 uses a lower 8MP camera with 1080P HD video recording capabilities and a 1.2MP front facing camera which allows 720P HD video recording.

As you can see the camera on the later iPhone 6s is much better, so if you’re looking to capture those better-quality photo’s, you would be best to choose the iPhone 6S.

Refurbished iPhone 6 vs 6s and 6s Plus: Storage and Memory

Storage and memory are a key thing to consider when it comes to any mobile phone. You will be using your refurbished iPhone for so many things, and many of these will be downloaded to the memory.

There is 1GB RAM contained in the iPhone 6 which is ample for this handset whereas there is double of 2GB RAM in the later 6S and 6S Plus.

All 3 models are available with the same storage capacity and come in, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB versions. So, if you store plenty of music, photos and videos on your device, the higher capacity of 64GB or 128GB would be the perfect choice.

Unfortunately, neither of these models allow for wireless charging. This feature wasn’t included until the later iPhone 8 model.

Refurbished iPhone 6 vs 6s Battery life

Does a refurbished iPhone come with a new battery?

During the refurbishment process at WeSellTek, our handsets are fully tested which does include a battery drain test. If the battery health is below  80% or if there are any fast drain issues, a new battery is fit into the handset. The handset is then retested to ensure the refurbished mobile phone is fully functioning and performing as we would expect.

Does the refurbished iPhone 6 come with headphones?

Our handsets are not supplied with headphones, however we do stock these which can be found on our accessories page.

Will a refurbished iPhone 6 come in its original box?

Here at WeSellTek our devices are supplied in a generic plain white box and come with a USB charging lead, UK mains plug and sim release tool only.

To conclude, we would recommend choosing the iPhone 6S over the iPhone 6 due it is ability to update to the latest IOS and it’s improved camera capabilities. However, should your budget allow, it would be worth checking out the later model of a refurbished iPhone 7 or refurbished iPhone 8 as these versions contain significant updates.
